Abstract

Starting from a recent miscellany of musicological studies (F. Rovelli - C. Vellutini - C. Panti [a cura di],  Tra ragione e pazzia. Saggi di esegesi, storiografia e drammaturgia musicale in onore di Fabrizio Della Seta, Edizioni ETS, Pisa 2021), the present paper tries to reflect on the history of two neighbouring disciplines, classical studies and musicology, reasoning, in particular, on the events that characterised the history of the two domains in twentieth-century Italy and on the notion of humanism.
