Abstract
This essay aims to analyze the roots in classical culture of Domenico Dara’s novels. The main thesis is that the author has created a modern epic language, modelled on the universality of Homer’s style and enriched through the use of dialects. Furthermore, philosophies of the age, particularly Pythagoreanism and Stoicism, provide the novel’s characters a tool to face the hardships and pains of life, and ponder on destiny.
